The "What Should I Sing" Thread? :D
« on: June 29, 2011, 11:40:58 AM »
You know how sometimes you really want to do a dub but you just don't know where to start or what song you want to do? For example, maybe you want to do your first K-Pop solo but you're kinda new to it and are not sure what songs are out there that would suit your voice? That kind of thing. I don't know, I often find myself in these situations, so I figure we could help each other! =D

Currently, I really want to cover either A. An anime OP/ED or B. A vocaloid song but that music tends to be so high pitched (seriously, makes H!P sound like Tom Jones) and I don't listen to it often enough to really know what my options are, as someone with a man voice ;-; any suggestions? I don't particularly want to cover a guy song XD

I'd love to hear you singing this ;___;

It was one of the endings to Bleach. I don't remember which one, but I really liked this one. XD

Farrah - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE1hYJe_wgM    I has instrumental if you're instrumental.

or I could hear you doing some Megumi Hayashibara -

As for Vocaloid songs...I find it easier to look up the Nico Nico versions. They're usually more forgiving to us that can't reach high-pitched girly high notes.

On a related note, I've been trying to figure out a K-Pop song to sing.  Actually, make that 2. One guy song and one girl song.

@Tomie MEGUMI HAYASHIBARA!  You my friend, have good taste!

And I was totally going to reccomend her for you, Farrah. XD

I'd love to hear you sing Every Heart Minna no Kimochi.  It's an ending theme for InuYasha and sung by BoA. xP

Look around YouTube for some songs. When I dub it's because I stumble across a song and I just start getting really attached to it.

here is my voice (save your life by starting at 0:39)
I'm trying to get into korean music too~

For Korean songs, I'd recommend something by Orange Caramel, like A~ing, Magic Girl, or even Bangkok City~ they have very simple lyrics so the Korean is pretty easy to pronounce. Or you could go the Halyu route and do something After School's Japanese version of Diva, or SNSD's Mr. Taxi, haha.

Well for someone like me, who can't sing Korean AT ALL! I recommend Shy Boy. The lyrics for that are actually reaaaaally easy. and I mean REALLY easy for beginners like us.

^ I really think your latest cover, 1925 suited your voice :D Your voice is really calming and pretty so i think some simpler songs, as in the instrumental - so like acoustic songs or ballads really sound good, like...  implode by BoA, I want you back (acoustic) by secret, sea route by hikki, that kind of stuff :D

I actually really really wanna do a kpop song as well. But all the kpop songs I know are either not suitable for my range (AKA. IU.) or not suitable for solo dubbing purposes (AKA. SNSD.)

any suggestions? i'm looking for slow, pretty ballads.

btw this is the range I'm most comfortable with (i feel like i'm overusing this Moon Crying dub for everything):

and this is a previous successful suggestion (yes, ORION. thank you :P):

Just because it's a big group song doesn't mean you can't solo it!  Tons of people do it  :D

SNSD's Star Star Star and Infinite's Can U Smile are both wonderful songs that make amazing solo's.  I can see you fitting Love In The Ice by DBSK but it goes really low in the beginning verses.  umm.  I'm really picky about ballads (it takes a lot for me to love one) so I don't have many to suggest to you XD  Maybe the ballad version of T-ara's Cry Cry?  Again I don't have many soloist suggestions, but all of these songs would make great solo's even if they are originally sung by groups!

My favorite Kpop ballad of all time is JOO's Bad Guy, but that song is not that easy at all XD
