Pretty *-* That looks really good!

SOMEONE recommend a good camera for me? I want one with really nice quality (I'm really tired of crappy digital cameras), but don't know where to start. ;_; Under $500 is preferred. XDD; I like doing portraits and nature stuff (so something that works well with both natural and artificial light) and also need something for my product photos (white balance). Anyone want to help me out or guide me in the right direction?

Ahh Kappa x3 That's so nice.

Windy - *whips out dorky camera magazine* I would suggest a FujiFilm. Pretty much, anything from the FinePix line. Mine has an auto setting, manual setting, accurate veiwfinder, and extremely accurate white balance settings (plus a custom one). It's also got a "super-macro" feature that's really great.

Windy-chan - I'm not sure how much it costs in USD, but a friend uses Canon Powershot G7 and it can bring you into full manual mode like SLRs. You can also add on some lens extras - but obviously not change the whole thing.

\o/ I'm so glad I decided to lurk on Yo-Pro today! *shot*

DJ-Mai-mai - I've heard horror stories of that too. I think it's just a matter of how aware people are of their rights with photography; if you intend to publish shots, sometimes you need model release forms, and I know dA enforces that in some cases. Street photography though with children is always a bit tricky ;__;

I would say general rule is - if the person/stranger is the main subject of the photo, get permission..otherwise it's not necessary :/

My flickr has a ton of crappy photos if you're interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hikaraseru and I own the most basic of gear D:

I wasn't sure which photo thread to put these in, but they don't include me, so. XD

I take pictures for fun, and that's pretty much it. However, I think some of my photos come out pretty decently, so...?

About a month ago, I went to the Grand Canyon for the first time, and it was beautiful and covered in snow.

Tada~

Javelina!

Some kind of bird.

The last one is my favorite. XD

OMG WINDY SAW A REAL JAVELINA! :o
I am jealous, as weird as that is. For the past 4 years, I have wanted to see one in person and the ones at the Sonoran Desert Museum were hiding when I was there and there were no rogue ones in my in-laws' neighborhood during the visit even though they swear they have seen them out and about when they have walked their dogs.

One does not realize the huge amazing sight of the Grand Canyon until one is right there, right?
In the first pic I realized, after looking at it for a bit, that there are people in the middle of the picture on that rock ledge thing! Holy crap! They look like ants there!

PUNS ARE AWESOME.

I love these pictures, Windy!  I thought I'd never heard of javelinas before, but then I wiki'ed it and I found out that they're also called peccaries, which I have heard of before.  Yay knowledge?  XD

I love nature photos, though, and these are really pretty.  ^^

Thanks, guys! ^^ Glad you like them!

@Gyp - this was actually my first time seeing a javelina outside of the zoo. XD So I had to take a picture. We don't have many of them up around Phoenix, obviously, but we do have coyotes. I saw two strolling down a main road the other night at 3AM. So just keep your eyes open whenever you visit, haha.

And yea, I never understood how BIG the canyon really was until I saw it for myself! One day I want to hike to the bottom!

@Liza - thanks :3 I forgot they're also called "peccaries," too. We only call them by the Spanish name here, usually. XD I love taking pictures of nature and animals. <3

There are few things I've shot lately that I'm proud of because the weather is generally sucky and I have bad lighting in the house..

This is one of them, though xD

Okay so I took this photo while I was on a school trip in China, and now that I look at it, it really does look like something that belongs in a National Geographic or something lol.

*will add pic soon xD*

Thanks Jodie!

Hitomiii I want to see a National Geographic-esque pic :'D It must be awesome!

Jodie - That's quite a nice closeup on the right, I love how close you were and how well the focus was! It just isn't too sharp, with a better camera that would have been lovely with the waterdrops!

Ooooh that's LOVELY Jodie, that's what I'm talking about wrt focus :D The photo's point of focus was perfect, I love the white 'hairy' bit sticking out :3 Lovely detail.

I use a Canon EOS 1000D with a 50mm f1.8 and a 18-55mm kit lens. Nothing too fancy. :/ I need an upgrade soon-ish though..
