Karaoke Discussion / Garageband Help
« on: January 01, 2013, 10:49:59 PM »
Okay so I have a borrowed desktop that's an apple mini or something.  It has Garageband.  I can turn it on.  But I do not have a CLUE how to use it.  How do I input a song and then record TO it in pieces?  I used Adobe Audition before and loved it.  I just don't know how to use this.  HELP?!?!  Can someone write up a tutorial or something for me?

Karaoke Discussion / Mixing Tips for beginners?
« on: November 27, 2012, 09:01:01 AM »
I'm about to mix my very first project and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.  What are some tips, tricks, things to keep in mind, things you wish you had known when you started?

Karaoke/Dub Auditions / [Canceled] Aitai Lonely Christmas
« on: November 26, 2012, 09:54:19 AM »
Well... this is a first!  I have never done my own project.  I'm not 100% sure on how to mix, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Song:  Aitai Lonely Christmas
Audition Due:  Wednesday December 5th.
To Audition: Clip of you singing, at least 1 minute of any song.  IF you could sing a bit of Aitai, that would be great!
Part: Which part would you like best?  (I am not promising you'll get that part, but I'll take it into consideration.)

Parts Available:
  • Maimi
  • Airi
  • Saki
  • Chisato
  • Mai

I will sing one of the parts, but I will decide after I get auditions.  I will also probably re code to make the line distribution a bit more fair.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!!!  I'm EXCITED!!!![/s]

Unfortunately, I don't have a working computer so I have to cancel this. More information in my last post on this thread.

General Discussion / Sharing the good news!
« on: May 20, 2011, 11:41:19 AM »
I posted this originally in the Things That Made Today Neat thread but Joel said it needed it's own thread.  So here we are.  Admins feel free to move this wherever.

Feels like forever since I've been waiting to share this news.  But I finally can tell everyone!  It's insane. I honestly am afraid I'm going to wake up from a dream at any moment.  I don't reall know what to think!  Too much to type out and explain but the short of it is - Happy! Project has the chance to record our own original single and it might possibly be promoted in Japan!  I'm rather blown away even by the thought of this!

For more info on it, check out this page! http://fb.me/RH4hiOfQ

OMG!!!!!! *DIES*

That's what I've posted before.  Here is a bit more information.

Through a really weird connection (Our rather ... interesting Japanese teacher) we met a music composer and producer.  He used to work in Japan for AVEX (we died.) and misses the Japanese music industry and wants to be more involved again.  The Japanese teacher gave him our info and he looked us up.  He said he was impressed and contacted us right away.  We scheduled a meeting, went and saw his studio, listened to several demo songs that he wrote for us, recorded a small song in his studio just to give him a feel for our voices.  It was an amazing meeting!  We picked a song, and are now fundraising to get the rest of the money needed to pay for the final produciton.  (He's giving us a HUGE discount, and this is honestly music that's better than a lot of groups in Japan that I've heard.)

We posted the information on our blog, facebook, and twitters last night.  We've already been contacted by a radio here in Oklahoma wanting to play our song and promote us as soon as we release it.  (I wonder if he missed the part about it being in JAPANESE!)  We have also had several of the Cruel Girls, JHiP, Hello Online, and even one of Coconuts Musume retweet and comment on it!  We're really on cloud nine about this and so excited.

I keep thinking that people don't realize that it's JUST US.  We aren't THAT GOOD.  Definitely not to deserve to be having this much luck and be getting to do this sort of thing.  I really think I'm going to wake up any second.

Anyways, I thought I would share this with you all.  I've been here for what seems like forever and this place is so important to me.  I figured if anyone would get how amazing this was, it would be you all!

The Office / April MotM Nominations!
« on: March 07, 2011, 11:41:30 AM »
April Nominations are open.  (I opened early this month since I didn't get a chance to run it last month!  I want TONS of nominations guys!  And seconds and thirds and lots and lots of awesome people to go on my list!  Get your nominations in!  And don't forget your reasons why!  Try to convince everyone else!)

Nominations close on March 25th!  Remember that this is NOT a popularity contest.  You MUST give reasons as to why you are nominating someone.  Why are they awesome on the forums other than karaoke stuff?  That's what we want to know.  Good luck everyone!

Quoting Liana and editing slightly...  :P  She said it so well, why try to change it?

There is no real reward to getting "Y!P Member Of The Month." It's just a chance to recognize people on the BBS for (stuff) that has nothing to do with singing or mixing.

Nominate as many people as you want BASED ON THEIR ATTITUDE ON THE BBS.

The only rule thus far is don't bring "she's such a great mixer" or "she's such a great vocalist" into it. This isn't about talent, this is about awesomocity.  The top 5 nominated people will go into a poll.

Just FYI, I really want this to be for acting awesome ON THE BBS, not for conversations outside the BBS or friendships or whatever. Then it's just a stupid popularity contest, right?

Try to think of people that you've seen being amazing ON the forum outside of the karaoke/singing/mixing aspect.  Look at all the other countless threads we have going on here that deals with real life, day to day, fandoms, etc.  Pay attention to attitudes, helpfulness, over all aweseomeness.  (Yeah, Firefox, not a word... Deal.  Not as cool as Liana's Awesomocity, still.)  This is not "Who's your best friend on the boards" but "Who has amazed you with THEMSELVES by being HERE."

Also... giving details why, what you've noticed and what made you think that way is VERY helpful.  Paragraphs, or at least some pretty concrete reasons for their nominations, are helpful. Come voting time, people may look back here to see what others have noticed to help influence their voting.  Have reasons why and share them!

It's great to see what makes our forums here so wonderful - THE PEOPLE!   ;D

General Discussion / Y!P AIM Blast Room
« on: January 27, 2011, 08:04:41 PM »
Hey guys!  Some friends of mine just introduced me to the AIM Blast Room thing.  I created one for Yo! Pro, but you need to be invited to see it.  It's really cool.  Whenever you log on, you are automatically there or something.  Or you can go in and out when you want.  And you can see everything that has happened when you were gone.

Let me know your AIM if you want an invite in!  I sort of already invited all the Y!Pers on my friends list, so if you got some random invite... that's it!

General Discussion / Holiday Traditions
« on: December 24, 2010, 03:17:22 PM »
So, I was posting over in the random stuffs thread and this came to mind.  In my family, over the years, we've developed silly traditions during the holidays.

Do you guys have any traditions with your families?

I'll start things off.

1.  When I was little, I was so afraid that my little brother would wake up before me on Christmas morning.  And that he'd go downstairs and ruin the whole going downstairs together surprise oh my goodness Santa stuff!  So when he was about 4 and I was about 8, I talked him in to a slumber party on Christmas Eve.  This quickly became a big tradition.  We'd alternate locations, we'd have snacks, games, music, you name it.  It was a slumber party.  Now that we're "adults", Santa still comes to visit us.   So we still camp out.  Now we've moved the camp out to the living room in front of the fireplace with marshmallows, popcorn, soda, and tons of movies.  My brother is in charge this year, so I'm sure that we're watching Monty Python and Mike Myers movies.  Or James Bond.  *shrug*  But it's always fun.

2. On Christmas Day, we used to go to my Aunt's house where her husband's family did their Christmas together.  We were always the odd ones out and made to feel very out of place.  So we always had tickets to see a movie Christmas evening.  LOL That was our excuse to leave.  Now that we don't go anymore, we STILL go see a movie on Christmas Evening.  It's one of the few times that we all go and splurge on the whole works.  Last year, we saw two movies in a row.

So now, what about you guys?  Any Holiday Traditions to share?

General Discussion / Dailybooth or Instagram?
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:42:09 AM »
I've found that I am ALWAYS taking pictures.  I have my cell phone with me at all times, which takes awesome pictures, as well as my professional camera that tends to be really close at hand.  I've recently discovered two picture posting sites.

Dailybooth - dailybooth.com/   You can upload pictures from your computer, you cell phone or snap a picture with your webcam.  You can then post about what you are doing, up to a really long page.  (I've never run out of room!) You can add friends on it, so you see their picture updates.  People comment and you can have interesting conversations because of pictures.  You can even reply with a picture!  It's so neat!  My Dailybooth is Mirachan.  I'd love to have new friends added!

Instagram - http://instagr.am/  This one is best if you have iPhone.  In fact, I'm not sure it will work without the iPhone.   :-\  But if you DO have one, (I have a 6th grade student who has one.   :o ) then this is an awesome program!  My name on it is Mirachan08.  There is a way to see the pictures online, but I don't remember how.  >_<
